DEFINITION
Autism Spectrum Disorder is a developmental disability, not an illness. Meaning there is no treatment or cure. People of all genders can be diagnosed with ASD. It affects the way people interact with others and how they learn, communicate and behave.
Every person with ASD experiences it in a different way. While some suffer from the disorder due to differences in their brain such as genetic conditions, scientists still don't know all the causes.
Autism is gauged on a spectrum as it's not a single condition, there is a wide variation in the type and how severe the disorder can be.
